Image Specialists, Inc. is a leading US manufacturer of compatible inkjet inks for desktop, wide format and graphics printing, impact printer ribbon inks and specialty products for digital imaging. We’ve been established for over 35 years and our products are sold worldwide. Image Specialists also offers an essential and growing line of solvent (bulk and compatible cartridges), HP remanufactured cartridges and Epson & Canon compatible cartridges for wide-format plotters used in advertising, high-end photography and the printing of quality artwork.
Duties / Responsibilities
• Responsible for formulating viable inkjet ink formulations (dye & pigment based) for desktop and wide format inkjet printers
• Develop broad formulation knowledge base to quickly resolve formulation issues/problems using disciplined experimental approaches
• Tests and investigates product performance in a variety of applications and print head technologies
• Transfer customer needs to specific formulation properties/requirements
• Provide long term research and development support for the company’s existing products, including the development of novel applications
• Drive the development of new and improved products in response to customer current and anticipated needs
• Responsible to transfer technology from laboratory to manufacturing with best approaches that are safe and well-characterized
• Perform quality control testing on incoming raw materials and finished goods as per Image Specialists Quality Assurance Procedures
• Prepare standards, QC specifications and tests for raw materials and finished products
• Maintain and monitor quality control records
• Make notations of any and all areas of concern and potential problems relative to quality , manufacturing process and customer requirements
Position Qualifications and Required Skills
• General understanding of chemical functionality of the components used to solve formulation issues
• Knowledgeable with a wide array of materials and methods used in the art of formulations
• Knowledge of chemistry, testing methods, laboratory procedures, terminology and use of testing equipment. Must have experience with using viscometers, surface tensiometer, UV/Vis spectrophotometer, color densitometers or other wet chemistry equipment to measure ink physical properties accurately
• Strong math and computer skills; basic knowledge of statistics for data analysis
• Strong analytical, creativity skills in order to troubleshoot and identify product performance problems
• Ability to produce reports, charts and graphs as necessary
• Customer service orientation and ability to follow through and respond to customer questions in a prompt and efficient manner
• Must be able to work independently and be resourceful
• An energetic, forward-thinking and creative individual with high ethical standards and an appropriate professional image
• Must have a good safety and house keeping practices
• Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels
• Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously
• Must demonstrate key leadership skills, such as a positive attitude, encouraging approach, strong work ethic, goal oriented and decisive nature, and a willingness to take responsibility for actions
• Must have strong communication, written, presentation and interpersonal skills
• MS Office: Word, Excel and Outlook requirements
• Ability to travel as required.
Education
• B.S in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
• Minimum five (5) years experience formulating inkjet inks
